Role Summary

We are looking for a Nairobi-based contractor to conduct market research and business development research ahead of the launch of a T-shirt range in Nairobi.

The role will involve researching the current T-shirt market, identifying key retail and wholesale channels, and developing a verified database/pipeline of potential wholesale buyers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct physical market research across Nairobi’s key retail, wholesale and import channels.
• Visit malls, retail outlets, hospitality boutiques, corporate/promotional printers, wholesalers and importers.
• Document products currently available in the market and relevant market information.
• Conduct outbound calls and LinkedIn outreach to identify potential business customers.
• Identify potential wholesale buyers across hospitality, corporate/promotional, retail, institutional and e-commerce sectors.
• Build and maintain a verified database of prospective buyers and relevant contact information.
• Provide clear findings and market insights from the research conducted.
• No direct sales closing is required.

Requirements

• Based in Nairobi.
• Fluent in English with conversational Kiswahili.
• Comfortable conducting physical store visits and outbound calls/LinkedIn research.
• Own smartphone with geotagging capability.
• Experience in retail, textiles, B2B sales or market research is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Good research, communication and reporting skills.
• Able to work independently and deliver within agreed timelines
