JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Accountant to manage the company’s day-to-day financial operations. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting cost accounting across our property development projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, up-to-date bookkeeping
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
- Process payroll and statutory deductions (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF)
- Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and filing (VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax)
- Track and report project and site-level costs for ongoing developments
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Assist with internal and external audits, and liaise with auditors and regulators
- Maintain fixed asset registers and monitor inventory of materials/stock where applicable
- Prepare management reports and financial analysis as required
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- CPA(K) or ACCA certification (part-qualified or fully qualified)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting role; real estate or construction industry experience is an advantage
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, Tally) and advanced MS Excel skills
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax law and statutory compliance requirements
- High level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
